Star turn for Fiat 500x launch

Star Events supplied the infrastructure for creative communications agency krow’s spectacular Fiat 500x illusion at the Copper Box Arena in East London, which saw superstar magician Dynamo turn a 3D blueprint of the new car into the physical vehicle with the “Power of X”.

Using their unparalleled venue knowledge, the Star Events team worked to a brief from production company Lodestar. It required a complex rigging element throughout the venue and over 1,100sq m of multi-level terracing, ramps and stairways to form the stage, an auditorium for 1,000 people, VIP and technical areas.

The whole set up was constructed on a sub-floor, laid not only to protect the Olympic standard sports surface, but to spread the significant loads generated by the event production, which included a small crane, squeezed into the venue to assist with the build

Gavin Scott, Star Events’ Project Manager, said:

“Establishing that the production loads were within safety limits for the Copper Box roof and the sprung floor was fundamental in the lead up to the event. On-site, the real challenge was getting that amount of kit into and out of the Copper Box safely and on schedule.”

Head of Branded Content and Cultural Partnerships at krow, Jason Knight, comments:

“Star’s flexibility and professionalism was key to making a very complicated event a huge success.”

Jason Ward, Production Director at Lodestar, adds:

“Star Events’ ability to adapt to situations as they happened was invaluable and its team was a pleasure to work with.”

The impact of that industry, and the illusion, was phenomenal. With The Live Firm (TLF Worldwide) managing his production, Dynamo’s magic wowed the audience at the Copper Box and the 2 million plus who have watched the action on YouTube: http://tinyurl.com/kfmohnt
