Heart Speaks Unto Heart – The visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Birmingham

WRG (For the Catholic Church and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office)

Hired by WRG at a very early stage in the planning surrounding the state visit by Pope Benedict XVI, Star Events acted as consultants in the venue selection phase of the project and then went on to provide over 1,000 tons of hardware, covering almost the entire range of our inventory.

There was an absolute requirement to keep the 80,000 capacity site in pristine condition before the event, not easy given the driving rain during the build, especially with an all white stage and masses of white scrims.

Great effort and fantastic work from the entire Star Events team. Many thanks for a job well done.
Mark Wallace, Chairman, WRG
Every bit of the site slopes quite steeply, which provided excellent viewing for the attendees but a variety of planning and construction difficulties for the crews. Security was a major issue, with every piece of equipment (over 10,000 individual items) being searched by the Security Services before being permitted on site. With only one main truck access point, logistics planning was a major feature of the project.

The end clients were reported to be “delighted and thrilled”.
