Sponsorship Awards’ 25th anniversary nominations
Park Live presented by British Airways at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which had Star Events’ infrastructure at its core, is on the UK Sponsorship Awards’ one-off 25th anniversary Silver Award shortlist, recognising the best activations since 1994.
Purpose-built for client M-is, Park Live was the second busiest venue in the park after the main stadium during London 2012, broadcasting BBC coverage of sporting events from across the Olympic Park and from other venues around the UK, as well as providing information and entertainment.
The fifth largest venue inside London 2012’s Stratford stamp, Park Live was the first time a Live Site of this type had been created within an Olympic Park.
Star Events had just four months to engineer and build the structure, which was installed in the River Lea, supporting two giant TV screens and a stage with integral TV studios and associated support facilities.
The contract saw Star Events providing solutions for the many engineering and logistical challenges, before delivering and removing the temporary structure on time and on budget.
Sainsbury’s is another Silver nominee, recognised for its work on the London 2012 Paralympics, Star providing stages and infrastructure for lead-up events there too. The award is open to a public vote until Friday 8th March.
Star Events’ contract British Summer Time (BST) Hyde Park is shortlisted in two other categories, Brand Sponsorship and Live Entertainment & Event Sponsorship; winners decided by a judging panel.
