Star stage at Nocturne Live voted very best
Star Events won Best Stage at the Festival Supplier Awards in January, for its platform and positive touch at Nocturne Live, the first event in the Great Court, Blenheim Palace for more than 10 years.
Tasked with the complete festival overlay, Star Events worked with production company Loudsound to design a ground protection plan for the Great Court, described as the ‘most stunning World Heritage Site’ by Blenheim Chief Executive John Hoy.
Managed by Sarah Howlett, the Star team incorporated the stonework outside the Palace doors into its 20m VerTech stage substructure. On top of that, there were different production requirements and capacities for the two headline shows, by Van Morrison/Gregory Porter and Ludovico Einaudi, which meant a precise, staggered load-in of equipment, the site open to the public throughout.
FSA judges described Star Events as a ‘forward thinking company with great attitudes from [its] crews on the ground’. Roger Barrett, Special Projects Director, comments:
“Star is well known for building great big stages for the major festivals so it was particularly gratifying to win the award for a much smaller structure at the 10,500 capacity Nocturne Live. These boutique events form the backbone of Star’s work each year and we tackle them all with equal levels of ingenuity, care and passion.”
